Some people are curious about an issue regarding one of your officers. The issue is regarding an ongoing relationship between Officer Dave Heritage and a female who was once in the Police Explorer program under the direct advisement of Officer heritage.
It is the belief of many that you were not even privileged to the information regarding the incident, because of the fact that NO REAL, action was taken against this officer.
Officer heritage began leading the Explorer Post as an ad visor and teacher shortly after he was hired. Officer Heritage then began to maintain a physical, sexual, and dating relationship with a female explorer by the name of Jennifer Ablett who was seventeen years old at the time of the start of the relationship. The issue was brought to the attention of officer heritage supervisors including Lt. Ted Krammer and Lt. Larry Szapor and an internal investigation (or lack thereof) was conducted. Officer Heritage and the female were both made to resign their positions in the explorer program. Both gave bogus reason that never materialized. Nothing else was done.
Wasn't a Galloway Township Officer just charged and lost his job for a similar incident? There are many Officers in your department who knew the relationship was going on and even witnessed physical activity between the two during hours of explorer meetings, inside your department. Also it is a joke and disgrace that nothing was ever done about the actions of this Officer. I don't think that your department conducted a proper background investigation before hiring him. If they, had they would have found out that he was the target of an investigation in cape May County for domestic violence. stalking and criminal mischief.
The father of the female explorer even complained about the incident, but nothing was ever done because she denied the allegations even though there were incidents, witnessed by Officers on heritage's shift. If you don't believe the information contained in this letter, conduct an investigation of your own. Heritage still maintains a relationship with the female and it is well known by everyone, including the members of your department. Drive by his house, especially on the weekends and you will see her newer model burgundy Chevrolet Monte Carlo parked in front of his house.
Also just to let you know, the Atlantic County Prosecutors Office and new jersey Attorney Generals Office have been notified about this incident and the lack of action (or should I say cover up) by your department. In addition other organizations interested in this type of matters will be notified. I hope that you will take the appropriate action to rid the Police profession of this pervert sexual predator.
It is funny how a Galloway Police Officer is arrested, charged with a crime and fired after a relationship with a juvenile High school student whom he was a mentor to and the Egg harbor Township Police Department covers up for one of their own in fear of embarrassment.
Please read the attached letter sent to Egg harbor Township Chief of Police. He has ignored this issue along with several other agencies. The NJ Attorney Generals office and Atlantic county Prosecutors Office was notified and has yet to take any action. I wonder if the fact that an Egg Harbor TWP Police explorer adviser works as an investigator with the prosecutor's Office. Many egg harbor Township Officers are very upset about this however are afraid to come forward in fear of retribution.
Concern People,
your email was forwarded to me by Mr. miller, the Township Administrator. For unknown reason, I didn't receive your original email.
The Police department conducted an investigation into these allegations when they were first brought to our attention. The investigation was conducted in conjunction with The Atlantic County Prosecutor's office. Our investigation could no sustain criminal or departmental charges. If you have any additional or specific information, i or a member of my agency would be willing to meet with you.
Thank you for your concern. Chief John Coyle

This email was sent to my PC. I believe the sender felt I should be aware of this. Now my lawyer is asking for the discovery on this. He believes in the civil trial this will help prove that Lt. Szapor and the I/A are lier's and cover up wrongful acts committed by their Officers.
