04/03/2006 - ORLANDO, Fla. -- Three Orlando police officers are under investigation for allegedly shooting a man with a taser at The Roxy nightclub and then trying to cover it up.
Sources say a fight started inside the nightclub that got pushed outside. Several officers were working off duty and tried to break up it up.
According to some witnesses, at least one of the officers intentionally shot the man with his taser, hitting him several times. Then, the officer allegedly pulled out the cartridge and threw it into the bushes.
Orlando police would not comment on the detail, but would only confirm an investigation is underway.
"A taser may have been used at Bennett road, but i'm not going to comment on who did it, how many people are involved, or the details of of it," said Barbara Jones of the Orlando police department.
Once the fighting stopped, everyone took off including police. But, later a man came up to the valet guy and asked him for help because he had prongs stuck in his chest from the taser.
When the Orlando supervisor asked the officers what happened and why a report was not made, the officers said they didn't not know a taser had been used and the cartridge must have gotten lost.
According to the department's policy, anytime a taser is used intentionally or accidentally, it has to be reported.
Internal affairs says if any policies have been violated, there will be disciplinary action.
