August 07, 2006 - A New Braunfels police officer has been arrested for possession of child pornography.
The arrest was made after a tip from the FBI.
Officer Justin Broussard, 44, was arrested on Saturday. Authorities with the Texas Attorney General's Office say they found sexually explicit images of young children at his home after he bought illegal DVD's from an online merchant. Forensics experts looked at the DVD's and found sexually explicit images of young children.
"People who possess child pornography are robbing our children of their innocence and inflicting harm that these young ones will feel for the rest of their lives," Attorney General Greg Abbott said in a news release.
Broussard faces up to 10 years in prison and a fine of $10,000 if convicted.
Possession of child pornography is a third degree felony.
