03/28/2006 - Federal authorities have brought child pornography charges against a Huntsville police officer.
Officer Kenneth Duane Haga, 41, was charged Monday with the interstate sexual exploitation of a child, U.S. Attorney Alice Martin said in a written statement. Haga, of Huntsville, was in federal custody Monday. The complaint alleges the crime occurred in Madison County on or about Feb. 24.
"No person is above the law, including a law enforcement officer, and I will prosecute this heinous crime of child exploitation to the fullest extent permitted by our laws," Martin said in the written statement.
Officer Haga, a 15-year Huntsville police veteran, was charged earlier this month with promoting child pornography and sexual performance of a child by the Titus County Sheriff's Office in Texas.
The Huntsville police have also charged him with possessing child pornography.
