01.17.2007 - UNION, S.C. An investigator with the Union Public Safety Department has been arrested on charges he assaulted his ex-girlfriend at her home.
Thirty-seven-year-old Officer Donald Ray Nix of Union is charged with trespassing and assault and battery.
A warrant obtained by the State Law Enforcement Division yesterday says Nix entered the woman's home without permission and grabbed her by the wrist Sunday.
Union police chief Sam White says Nix has been placed on leave without pay.
SLED agents arrested Nix late yesterday afternoon. He was released last night on a public recognizance bond.
White says Nix has been with the Public Safety Department about ten years. White says he doesn't think the woman was seriously injured.
