December 29, 2006 LITCFIELD, N.H. --A police lieutenant and former candidate for sheriff faces criminal charges of domestic assault and animal cruelty. James Gaudet is accused of pushing his teenage daughter and kicking the family's kitten at their Manchester home. He is scheduled for trial March 15. Earlier this year Gaudet ran unsuccessfully for Hillsborough County Sheriff. Town and police officials also have decided to conduct an internal investigation of the Gaudet. "It's going to require an investigation before we can make any statement," said selectman Jack Pinciaro. www.boston.com/news/local/new_hampshire/articles/2006/12/29/litchfield_police_officer_charged_with_domestic_assault/
