01.04.2007 - A Leon County Sheriff's deputy is on paid administrative leave after being charged with felony battery in connection with an incident reported on Christmas Day, according to reports from the Tallahassee Police Department. Officer Jon Mitchell Plante, 31, will be on leave until LCSO concludes an internal-affairs investigation, Sheriff's Office spokesman Chris Chase said. According to an arrest report, Plante had an argument with his girlfriend. He threw her on a bed, grabbed her neck and screamed, "It's all your fault. My life is all your fault." Plante then left, came back to the room and choked the woman again. Police said the woman had red marks on her neck, and she said bruises on her thighs and arms were from previous incidents. "It's the policy of the Sheriff's Office to adhere to Florida Statute 790.233," Chase said, which makes it illegal for Plante to have a firearm if he faces charges of this type. www.tallahassee.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20070104/NEWS01/701040342/1010/NEWS01
