11.29.2006 - BIG SPRING -- A Big Spring police officer was fired for violating police department and city policies, according to a statement released Tuesday by Big Spring Chief of Police Lonnie Smith. Big Spring officers were called to a residence in reference to a domestic argument where they arrested Officer Clint Porter, 26, of Big Spring for public intoxication, according to police. Police said Porter was off duty at the time of arrest. Smith said Porter, who had been employed by the Big Spring police department since Aug. 1, 2005, violated policies with his behavior, due to the fact that he had to be taken into custody. Police said they would not release any more information until after time has passed for Porter's option to appeal. Porter has five days to appeal the termination. www.mywesttexas.com/site/news.cfm?newsid=17524682&BRD=2288&PAG=461&dept_id=475626&rfi=6
