01.10.2007 - ELYRIA — A Cuyahoga County Sheriff’s deputy was arrested Monday night on charges of drunken driving on Interstate 90, the Ohio Highway Patrol said. Deputy David Miller, 39, of North Olmsted, was charged with operating a moving vehicle while intoxicated and operating an unsafe vehicle. Miller was arrested near the state Route 57 interchange, said Patrol Sgt. Paul March. Troopers say Miller’s front right tire was blown out and the car was riding on the rim as he traveled west on Interstate 90 — prompting another motorist to alert the Avon Police Department, which forwarded the call to the Highway Patrol. “He was very professional, cooperative and polite, but refused to take a Breathalyzer,” March said. “He immediately announced to the trooper who he was.” The trooper who pulled Miller over called March, and March called the Sheriff’s office. Deputies from Cleveland came to the Highway Patrol post in Elyria to pick up Miller. Miler was placed on paid administrative leave pending an internal investigation by the Cuyahoga County Sheriff’s Office, said Inspector Rob Havranek. He is an administrative sergeant responsible for duties such as payroll, assignments and scheduling. Miller became a deputy sheriff in 1997. He was hired with the county in 1994 as a corrections officer. www.chroniclet.com/Daily%20Pages/011007local2.html
