February 26, 2007 EL CAJON, CALIFORNIA – Opening statements are scheduled Monday morning in the trial of an El Cajon police officer accused of soliciting sexual favors from female detainees in exchange for their freedom. William Robert Taylor, 27, is charged with seven counts of soliciting bribes, three counts each of sexual battery and rape with a foreign object, and one count each of petty theft and attempting to dissuade a witness. The prosecution alleges that Taylor, a three-year police veteran who is married and has a daughter, propositioned women over an 18-month period by repeatedly asking what they would do to avoid jail time. At a preliminary hearing, a woman testified that she was forced to undress and masturbate in the back of his patrol car while he watched. The woman was caught trying to sneak a sweater out of a Target store on Sept. 12, 2005. She said she was desperate to avoid going to jail because she promised her son that she was “trying to clean up her act.” While in a parking lot off Coogan Way, the officer suggested she take off her clothes and play with herself, then handed her a billy club and said “use this,” the woman said. She was cited for petty theft instead of a more serious burglary charge and was eventually convicted. The officer denied the woman’s claims in a videotaped interview with detectives and said two other women had propositioned him. Taylor faces 19 years in prison if convicted. www.signonsandiego.com/news/metro/20070226-0318-officer.html

They could easily run a DNA test on the Billy Club to find out the truth.
There's probably too much blood on it from other beatings.
