January 23, 2007 By KIMBERLY EDDS SANTA ANA – Opening statements are scheduled today in the case of a former Irvine police officer accused of forcing an exotic dancer to perform sex acts on him in exchange for letting her drive off without a ticket. Prosecutors said that while on the job in December 2004, David Alex Park followed the 32-year-old woman from the Irvine adult club where she worked. Flashing his lights and blaring his siren, he pulled her over on a lonely stretch of Laguna (133) Freeway in Laguna Beach, prosecutors said. Park gave the woman, who had just finished dancing at Captain's Cabaret and Lounge, a sobriety check, which she passed, then threatened to ticket her for driving with a suspended license, prosecutors allege. But he promised he would let her go without a ticket if she performed sex acts on him, prosecutors said. In a claim filed against the city, the woman said Park first pulled her over on July 29, 2004, exposed himself to her and asked for her phone number. The next time he pulled her over, he assaulted her, the claim said. Park, 31, is charged with sexual penetration by foreign object by threatening to use the authority of a public official, sexual battery, and sexual battery by restraint. He faces up to 10 years in prison if convicted. www.ocregister.com/ocregister/news/local/communities/santaana/article_1552278.php
