Government Still Pushing for Cell Phone Tracking Without Probable Cause The Electronic Frontier Foundation (EFF) has asked a federal magistrate judge in New York City to reject a Department of Justice (DOJ) request to track a cell phone user without first showing probable cause of a crime. In a brief filed in New York on Tuesday, EFF and the Federal Defenders of New York argue that no law authorizes the government's request, and that granting the order would threaten Americans' Fourth Amendment right against unreasonable searches.

Don't forget the government and law enforcement thinks it might be wise to track cell phones for the "public's safety." They think that alot of people sometime wonder off into the wilderness or get lost and the use of tracking their "cell phone" could rescue them.
Lets be for real, this happens maybe 1 in a million times and our government is using this as an excuse to "wire tap" and track millions if not billions of innocent citizens? This means at anytime, even if your not using your cell phone, they can pin point what you location is!
That's the governments job, if their not lying to you there trying to scare you into giving up a little freedom for temporary safety.
