Feb. 12, 2007 RALEIGH, N.C. - A former Robeson County sheriff's deputy has pleaded guilty to federal drug, weapon, and kidnapping charges, the U.S. Attorney's Office said Monday. Vincent Sinclair, 44, faces a possible life sentence in prison. He is the eighth former deputy to plead guilty as a result of a three-year state and federal investigation into alleged corruption within the sheriff's office. A total of 11 people have been convicted as a result of the investigation, which is ongoing, prosecutors said. Authorities said Sinclair was among several men who beat and robbed a suspected drug dealer of 2 kilograms of cocaine and about $150,000. Three months later, in February 2004, Sinclair drove from North Carolina to Virginia to kidnap two Virginia men, prosecutors said. Sinclair and his accomplices wore police badges during the raid, according to prosecutors. Sinclair pleaded guilty to conspiracy to possess with the intent to distribute more than 500 grams of cocaine, conspiracy to commit kidnapping and possession of a firearm during a crime of violence. www.myrtlebeachonline.com/mld/myrtlebeachonline/news/local/16683581.htm
