FARGO - A chief deputy federal marshal has been demoted and suspended after a drunken driving arrest and a hit-and-run crash.
Terry Fred, 45, was demoted and given a 30-day unpaid suspension by a disciplinary review panel, U.S. Marshal Dave Carpenter said Monday. Fred likely will be transferred out of state, Carpenter said.
Fargo police arrested Fred last February for drunken driving and leaving the scene of a crash that involved property damage. Authorities said Fred was driving a government-owned sport utility vehicle.
Carpenter said Fred's suspension took effect Sunday.
