12/06/06 By HEATHER DONAHOE A Franklin police sergeant has resigned his position following accusations he shoved his wife and grabbed her by the neck during a Nov. 25 argument at their Thomspon's Station home. Charles Kirby, 39, was charged with domestic violence — a Class A misdemeanor — by the Williamson County Sheriff's Office. He was booked into the county jail, where he was released after posting $1,000 bond. Franklin Police Deputy Chief David Rahinsky confirmed Kirby's resignation, which was effective Dec. 1. "Our administrative investigation of the situation was in its early stages," Rahinsky said. "(Kirby's) decision to resign was made independent of any conclusions reached by the department." The criminal investigation is being conducted by Williamson County Detective David Beard. www.tennessean.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20061206/COUNTY090101/61206030
