06.22.2006 - HELENA A trainee at the Montana Law Enforcement Academy, in Helena, has been charged with drunken driving and possessing marijuana and drug paraphernalia. Brett Fortier, of Anaconda, called the Montana Highway Patrol at 1 a-m Tuesday, to report he had struck and killed a deer. Twenty-four-year-old Fortier told dispatchers he would continue on to the academy, where he said he would meet an officer to make a report. A sheriff's deputy spotted Fortier's pickup on the way to the academy, and says he was swerving. Court records says Fortier nearly backed into the patrol car, when both vehicles were pulled over to the side of the road. Court records says Fortier failed the field sobriety test, and the deputy also noticed a brass pipe in the pickup. Fortier gave him permission to search, and the deputy found a small amount of a substance believed to be marijuana. www.ktvq.com/Global/story.asp?S=5064831
