06.01.2006 - NEW HAVEN -- Newly-released test results show that a New Haven police officer was well above the legal limit when he was arrested for drunk driving.
Sergeant Stephen Shea crashed into an SUV in December of 2004 in New Haven while driving his personal car. Both drivers suffered minor injuries.
Shea's DUI charge was dismissed after he completed an alcohol education program.
But results of two urinalysis tests show that Shea had a blood alcohol level of .19 and .20 -- more than twice the legal limit of .08.
Police had previously refused to release Shea's test results.
