Dec 20, 2006 CAMDEN, Ark. (AP) -- A former deputy prosecutor has been arrested on drug charges after he was allegedly found with drug paraphernalia when officers served him with a warrant on unrelated manslaughter charges. Benton Rollins, 58, was arrested Monday on charges of possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, resisting arrest and disorderly conduct, said Ouachita County Sheriff Paul Lucas. Rollins, who was a former deputy prosecutor in Ouachita County and the former Camden city attorney, also is charged with two counts of manslaughter for the deaths of two people in a March 22 traffic crash in Perry County. On Tuesday, Ouachita County Circuit Court Judge Edwin Keaton set Rollins' bond at $10,000 for the drug charges. Rollins then was taken to the Perry County jail, where he posted bail and was released Tuesday, according to the jail. Authorities on Monday went to a home on Arkansas 24 to serve the manslaughter warrants, Lucas said. When there, a sheriff's deputy got into a scuffle with Rollins. As the deputy placed Rollins in handcuffs, two crack cocaine pipes fell on the floor, according to a sheriff's report. One of the pipes contained two rocks of crack cocaine, the report said. An appearance date for Rollins on the manslaughter charges is set for Jan. 25. hosted.ap.org/dynamic/stories/A/AR_PROSECUTOR_FATAL_CRASH_AROL-?SITE=ARMOU&SECTION=STATE&TEMPLATE=DEFAULT&CTIME=2006-12-20-15-42-12
