HANNIBAL, Mo. — Former Hannibal police officer Timothy Dann was arrested and charged Friday with three counts of statutory rape and two counts of statutory sodomy in Marion County Circuit Court.
Dann, 37, a former school resource officer with the Hannibal Police Department, was the target of an investigation by the Federal Bureau of Investigation last year. He was placed on paid leave in June 2006 and resigned in December.
Judge John Jackson signed a $50,000 warrant for Dann's arrest Friday. Authorities said Dann was arrested Friday afternoon and posted the $50,000 bond. His first court date is pending.
Each of the charges is a Class C felony and carries a maximum charge of up to seven years in prison. Marion County Prosecutor Tom Redington said he had no comment and calls to Dann's home went unanswered.
Court records show Missouri State Highway Patrol Lt. David Hall conducted an investigation and interviewed two females who claim they had sexual relations with Dann between 2002 and 2005 when they were younger than 17 years old.
According to a probable cause statement obtained by The Herald-Whig, one female said she had sexual contact with Dann on more than one occasion in October and November 2005 at Dann's residence.
A second female told Hall she had sexual relations with Dann at least one time before her 17th birthday. She said it was prior to December 2002.
The FBI announced in December it had ended its investigation of Dann, and turned it over to the Missouri State Highway Patrol. Authorities provided no explanation when Dann was put on paid administrative leave in June.
Dann, a corporal, was put on paid administrative leave after the FBI raided his Hannibal home June 8. He submitted his resignation the first week of December.
Dann was paid $17,721 during his leave. He had been the department's school resource officer since January 2000.
Dann was hired by the Hannibal Police Department in August 1995 after his graduation from Culver-Stockton College in Canton.
