24 January 2007 YAPHANK, NEW YORK - Detectives in the Computer Crimes Section of the Suffolk County Police Department have arrested a 25-year-old New York City Police Officer and have charged him with online sexual exploitation of children. Detectives executed a search warrant and went to the home of David Mena, of 374 South Second Street, Brooklyn, Wednesday at 9:25 a.m. Mena, a New York City Police Officer, used the screen name “Octelweb725,” and met an undercover detective who he believed to be a 14-year-old girl in an AOL chat room, detectives said. He then engaged in sexually explicit online chats and transmitted sexually graphic pictures of himself to the “girl” and offered to meet with her for the purpose of engaging in sex acts, detectives said. No meeting actually took place. Officers from the NYPD Internal Affairs Division were present during the arrest. Mena has been charged with one count of attempted dissemination of indecent material to minors in the first-degree, and was transported to the Fourth Precinct in Hauppauge. He will be held there overnight and will be arraigned in First District Court in Central Islip on Jan. 25. Mena resigned from his position with the NYPD. 1010wins.com/pages/189582.php?contentType=4&contentId=295235
