HENRY COUNTY, Va. -- A former sheriff's deputy charged in an alleged scheme to sell drugs seized from criminals has pleaded guilty to one federal count of possessing stolen firearms. Deputy Patrick Martin, who was a sergeant in the vice unit of the Henry County Sheriff's Department, entered the plea Tuesday. He faces a maximum sentence of 10 years in prison and a fine of $250,000. Prosecutors dropped two other weapons counts as part of Martin's plea agreement. Thirteen members of the department -- including former sheriff Frank Cassell -- and seven civilians were indicted last fall. Cassell goes on trial in June. He is charged with impeding federal officers' investigation and money laundering. He retired just after being indicted. Of the 20 people charged last fall, 13 have entered plea agreements. www.wxii12.com/news/11126742/detail.html
