01.21.2007 - A St. Paul, Virginia police officer is facing charges of trying to buy narcotics while on duty and of breaking into a house. Wise County Deputy Commonwealth's Attorney Ron Elkins says Officer Daven Cory Phillips was arrested last night by two agents from a regional drug task force. Elkins says a sting was set up using imitation OxyContin after an informant told authorities she had seen Phillips purchase narcotics previously. The 22-year-old Phillips also was charged with breaking and entering and conspiracy to commit breaking and entering in connection with a break-in at a resident's house. Phillips, of Russell County, was released on a $20,000 bond and will be arraigned Monday.
