01.10.2007 - ALEDO - New Windsor Police Chief Tim Carr has been arrested for official misconduct and obstruction of justice. He is facing two felony counts. He was taken into custody Monday. The official misconduct charge alleges while acting in his official capacity and while supervising a probationer, Carr knowingly performed an act which he knew was forbidden by law in that he falsified reports regarding that probationer to the Henry County Probation Department. The obstructing justice charge alleges Carr furnished false information to an agent with the Illinois State Police with the intent to prevent the arrest of an individual. The count alleges he lied to the officer about the criminal probation status of the individual. Mercer County State's Attorney Greg McHugh had no comment on the case at this time. He said as of Monday, Carr, of New Windsor, had not resigned as New Windsor Police Chief. New Windsor Village President Mike Peterson could not be reached for comment. An initial court appearance is planned for today. Carr, 40, is being held on a $10,000 arrest warrant in the Henderson County Jail. He was a former correctional officer for the Mercer County Sheriff's Department. www.register-mail.com/stories/011007/LOC_BC26EV1M.GID.shtml
